Water Softeners
No more spotty dishes. No more dry skin.
Hard water leaves white spots on your glasses, builds up inside your pipes, and dries out your skin and hair. A water softener takes those minerals out before the water reaches your faucets. And your appliances last way longer because of it.

What Is Hard Water?
Hard water contains elevated levels of dissolved calcium and magnesium minerals. These minerals are harmless to drink but wreak havoc on your home. Forming the white crusty deposits you see on faucets, showerheads, and inside your dishwasher.
How Water Softeners Work
Ion exchange water softeners replace calcium and magnesium ions with sodium ions through a resin bed. The result is 'soft' water that doesn't form scale. The resin regenerates automatically using a small amount of salt.
Is Coastal NC Water Hard?
Water hardness varies by area and source in Brunswick County. Municipal water sources often have moderate to high hardness, and well water can vary widely. We'll test your water and give you the exact hardness number.

Quick questions
Is softened water safe to drink?
Yes, softened water is safe for most people. The sodium added in exchange for calcium/magnesium is minimal. A 250ml glass of softened water contains less sodium than a slice of bread. If you're on a sodium-restricted diet, we can install a reverse osmosis drinking tap that removes the sodium.
How much salt will I go through?
A typical household uses 25-50 lbs of salt per month depending on water hardness and usage. Modern demand-initiated regeneration systems are much more efficient than older timer-based units, using only the salt they need.
Can a softener work on well water?
Yes, though well water sometimes contains iron, manganese, or tannins that can foul the softener resin. We test for these first, and if needed, we install a pre-treatment filter to protect the softener and keep it working at peak efficiency.
